To me, this project means putting a smile on a suffering childs face. My brother, sister and I were all born at St. Mary's and we have been fortunate to be healthy. But it is wonderful that children suffering in our area have someplace like St. Mary's local that specializes in treatment of children. Hailee Cunningham, a six year old in our community as well as a fellow classmate are currently fighting cancer, this is the real reason I want to do this project. My sister is the same age as Hailee and my family has been praying for her and her family. She has in an inoperable tumor on her spine. My classmate has shared several classes with me the past two years. She was diagnosed with a sarcoma. Both of these young girls are being treated at Riley. Hopefully, the blankets we are making will cheer up the children who are suffering at such a young age. Making 500+ blankets seems like a lot, but its nothing compared to what these kids have to go through. If a blanket can put a smile on a child's face, even for a moment, that is our goal.
